Sunday Aug. 23 Women’s Parsha Class with Dr. Ilana Cherok at 7 p.m. at the CTC
This class focuses on gaining more insight and knowledge about the weekly Torah portion. Dr. Ilana Chertok will give a deeper looks at what is happening behind the scenes that will enlighten and inspire attendees. No affiliation or membership required. Bring a friend. No charge for classes, but donations appreciated.

Tuesday Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. at the CTC
CJWI – Women’s Learning Group – ELUL – How Can I put G-d Into my Everyday Life? Be inspired by this interactive learning opportunity lead by our own genuine and inspiring educator and counselor, Sara Oppenheim. No membership and no affiliation required. Bring a friend and nourish your soul.

Wednesday Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. at the CTC
Dare to Grow – Chovat Halevavot – Duties of the Heart
This interactive class is given weekly on Wednesday evenings. Rabbi O. provides in depth analysis of one of the most important Jewish ethical works. Composed in Spain in the 11th century BCE by Rabbenu Baochya ibn Pekuda, this book discusses Man’s purpose in the world and his obligations to our Creator in areas of belief, behavior and character. This class will teach you how to be in touch of your inner feelings. Dare to grow! All classes are free of charge but donations at your discretion are always welcomed.

72 Minute Shabbat Learner’s Service
Unique 72 minute Saturday morning Shabbat Learner’s Service: The CTC provides an opportunity to learn how to participate in a Saturday morning Shabbat service in a supportive, welcoming and interactive environment. This short service is open to everyone who is interested in learning more about the prayers and the Torah portion of the week. Kiddush immediately following the service.

CJWI – Women’s Social – EnVISION Yourself in the New Year
L’Shana Tova! It’s time to enVISION yourself in the New Year! The CJWI Women’s group invites you and your friends to create your vision board – a visual representation of the life you want. The cost is $15 and we’ll provide snacks and drinks, boards, glue sticks, markers and fun odds and ends. You bring old magazines we can cut up, your favorite quotes, personal pictures you want to include and scissors. Rosh Hashana Challah Baking Extravaganza
Join other Jewish women as we bake round challah for Rosh Hashana. Learn all the secrets of why we use round challah as well as challah baking tips, secrets and blessings. Every woman comes home with two round challahs, new friends and memories. Cost is an $18 donation. Reservations and donations can be made online. Classes are open to all Jewish women and teens. No affiliation or membership is necessary. ** We are also taking orders for Rosh Hashana Challah as a JWRP Alumni fundraiser. Order world famous Sara O. Challah to give as a gift or to use to celebrate Rosh Hashana with your family. Orders taken that day, by emailing Sara at sara@charlottetorahcenter.com or online at our website. Cost for additional challah is $15.

Rosh Hashana class for the Clueless but Curious
Followed by Chovat Halevavot at 8p.m. (come to one or both!)
Whether you want to come and passively listen or actively participate, this class is an opportunity for you to enjoy the High Holidays this year—whether you chose to stay home or go to the synagogue of your choice. In this two part series, we will address the following five questions each class, as well as any others the participants want answers to.
Question: On Chanukah the menorah burned for eight days; on Passover the Jews left Egypt, but what exactly happened on Rosh Hashanah?
Question: Why are services so long?
Question: Why does God judge us?
Question: Why do we blow the shofar?
Question: Do I have to go to shul? If G-d is everywhere, can’t I just stay home this year for the High Holidays?

Question: Is Yom Kippur a happy day or a sad day?
Question: Why fast; wouldn’t we have a more significant experience if we had our morning coffee and ate something?
Question: Why can’t I wear leather shoes but can wear a leather belt or even leather yarmulke?
Question: Why is it so hard to change? What Jewish wisdom can we access to help us change parts of our personalities we would like to discard? (Fear, lack of confidence, lack of self-control, just to name a few.)
Question: Why is guilt antithetical to Judaism?
